Meet Our Pastor

Our Pastor James Claggett, has served the Pitcher Hill Community Church since September of 2011, when he moved to North Syracuse, NY with his wife Jan and his children Nicholas, Ashley, and Luke. Jan served as a drug and alcohol counselor with the Syracuse Salvation Army. His oldest son, Nicholas, is in his final year of his Master Program at The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. His daughter, Ashley received her AA from OCC and is planning on enrolling in college to finish her degree.  Their youngest son, Luke, is a Junior at Faith Heritage School in Syracuse.

Pastor Claggett previously served as a United States Air Force as a Protestant Chaplain. He served at Offutt Air Force Base (Omaha, Nebraska), Elmendorf Air Force Base (Anchorage, Alaska), Sather Air Base in (Baghdad, Iraq), Luke Air Force Base, (Phoenix Arizona). He was awarded or Decorated thirteen times during his service.

Prior to his military service, James was a pastor in South Dakota, beginning his ministry in 1987. The churches he served were: The Davis Bethel Reformed Church in Davis South Dakota; The Leola, Fredrick, and Barnard Churches in South Dakota; Brothersfield (UMC-EUB) Church in Parker, South Dakota and the Artesian UMC Church in Artesian, South Dakota.

Pastor Claggett graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1989 with a BA in religion and philosophy. He graduated from Sioux Falls Seminary in 1993 with a Masters of Divinity.
